DWH: how corporate storage differs from regular DBs
Businesses began to take an active interest in corporate storage at the end of the last century. They were implemented to increase the speed of response to changes, monitor performance indicators, and automate processes. A corporate data warehouse differs from a typical business database in several ways:

Type and source of data
Conventional DBs store data from specific information systems of the company. DWH is built on a different principle: such a corporate storage consolidates information from all departments of the company - from sales statistics to information about employees.
Data volume
Conventional databases are used to store only current information - it makes no sense to store data for several years of the enterprise's operation in it. In the Data Warehouse, on the contrary, historical data and archived information are collected. For example, by looking into the DWH, you can get information about all transactions for the last few years.
Role in business processes
Initially, data is stored in regular DBs and from there it enters the DWH. In other words, the Data Warehouse always contains the latest versions of data.
